What is an Illustration?
An illustration is a picture, drawing or graphic representation with different purposes, such as telling a story, documenting or describing something, communicating an idea or decorating. What types of illustrations are there?
In a nutshell, there are 2 types of illustrations: bitmaps and vectors. The main difference is that a bitmap is a grid with colored dots, so it cannot be enlarged without losing quality. On the other hand, a vector image consists of objects and figures made out of coordinates, which allows them to be resized without losing quality.
